Texture Addiction

The texture rage is cresting. Im not sure why textures seem to add additional dimensions to otherwise ordinary snapshots. Any thought?

(JLT) Textures seem to do something to the very identity of an image. I'm trying to decide what that is. Thanks for the nice words.
(Stacey) It is always a delight to have my favorite world traveller stop by. And thanks for wrestling with the texture puzzle.
(PNF) Hmmmm.... an ocean wave? Let me see if I can find one of those for some future idea. Thanks Deb.

Wonderful perspective/composition and treatment of this image.

I've been resisting textures, because they can disguise a weak image and I don't want to fool myself ;). But done well, I enjoy the added tactile dimension -- paint on canvas, the weight and finish of paper in my hands, the organic quality of tree bark. They engage another of my senses, as a viewer.
