Point and shoot at a Summer day? You decide if this snatch of nostalgia feels like more fantasy than reality... particularly when the February wind-chills are 3 and 4 BELOW zero.
BTW - this scene sort of happened last July 4th along the Susquehanna River across from Columbia Borough - looking South toward the "New" Memorial Bridge. The pilings in the foreground are remains of an older covered bridge that was torched to delay General Lee's soldiers arrival at Gettysburg to the West.

Goodness, it must be depressing! We had such a winter last year with snow from November till April, and it certainly was a nightmare.
Photographically this image has very much the feeling of an old illustration, which is probably very fitting, given your current mood :)
In such a situation I normally go hunting for color in details, either with the Lensbaby, the 18-200@200 or the macro. By the way, that's what I will do today. It is not cold outside, but it's a drab, gray day. We'll see what I get.
